2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Specs, Colors, AWD – Despite bearing the Equinox moniker, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV has little in common with the compact SUV. Not least of all, its powertrain, which substitutes electricity for gasoline. The exterior design of the Equinox EV combines futuristic and conventional crossover design elements, and it looks pretty cool. Unlike the smaller Bolt EUV, we expect the Equinox EV to have an option for all-wheel drive, which will probably mean two electric motors and a little more power than the 200-hp Bolt. We anticipate a driving range of nearly 300 miles per charge for the new Chevrolet SUV, although the company has not yet provided many details.
The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox is an admirable subcompact SUV. The Equinox has a spacious interior with five seats, a user-friendly infotainment system, and a good collection of standard safety features. It is comfortable to drive on less-than-perfect pavement, and navigating the city is relatively simple. Equinox also has a high predictability rating. However, it does not compare favorably to many competitors. This vehicle’s interior quality, cargo space, and engine performance are mediocre.
2024 Chevy Equinox Redesign
Chevrolet has given the Equinox EV unique aesthetics instead of using the current Equinox design with a different powertrain underneath. These include a full-width LED light bar in the front (2LT and higher), while the headlight clusters are cleverly concealed within a dark surround that creates the illusion of a grille in the show. A strip that runs along the window line and across the C-pillar creates the illusion of a floating roof. Full-width lighting replicates the front at the rear. Upon approach and departure, the light elements display various animations and features, such as the available power tailgate using proximity sensing technology to open automatically. Each trim has distinctive aesthetic characteristics, with the RS being the most aggressive. It possesses a blacked-out front bumper, black Chevrolet bowtie emblems, and red RS emblems. The 1LT and 2LT models have 19-inch wheels, whereas the 3LT and 3RS have 21-inch wheels.
On most models of the Chevrolet Equinox EV, a sunroof is offered as an exterior enhancement. The final available colors for the Chevy Equinox EV are Summit White, Black, Sterling Gray Metallic, Red Hot, and Galaxy Gray Metallic. They are all offered at no additional cost. Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, Radiant Red Metallic, and the two-tone Riptide Blue Metallic with a Summit White roof are likely trim-specific options. The RS models will offer a black roof as an option.
Interior
The interior of the Chevrolet Equinox EV, which seats five passengers in two rows, will also be a significant selling point. The flat Ultium platform provides more interior space by eliminating transmission tunnels. The larger dimensions compared to the gasoline-powered Equinox should offer it superior internal volume, closer to the current Blazer. This has approximately 39 inches of headroom and 40 inches of legroom for reference. The seats will offer eight-way power adjustability and heating/ventilation, and the steering wheel can also be heated.
The Equinox EV is unlike other EVs because it is unlikely to have a trunk. On LT-badged variants, upholstery options include black with blue accents or Sky Cool Gray, while the sportier RS variants offer black with red accents or Adrenaline Red. The sportier trims will also feature a steering wheel with a flat bottom. With the rear seats folded, the Equinox EV’s cargo space will be versatile, offering up to 57 cubic feet of space. The average number has not been provided.
Engine
Front-wheel-drive Equinox EVs come standard with a 210-horsepower electric motor, but the optional all-wheel-drive system boosts output to 290 horsepower. We have not yet driven the Equinox EV. Still, we anticipate that the front-wheel-drive powertrain will be sufficient for most drivers, especially given the rapid power delivery typical of electric motors, which will likely give the SUV a lively demeanor in the city. The smaller Bolt EUV, for example, generates ten fewer horsepower from its single onboard motor but still reaches 60 mph in 6.8 seconds on our test track. When we have the opportunity, we will test both front- and all-wheel-drive Equinox models and update this article with the results.
The base Equinox EV has a smaller battery pack than the rest of the lineup and an assessed range of 250 miles per charge. All other trims receive a larger battery that can provide up to 300 miles of range, although adding all-wheel drive reduces the estimated range to 280 miles. Chevrolet claims that DC fast charging can add 70 miles of content to the battery in as little as 10 minutes across all models.
2024 Chevy Equinox Release Date and Price
Despite the segment’s current popularity, Chevrolet isn’t in a rush to enter the compact crossover EV market. The official release date for the Chevrolet Equinox EV is fall 2023, with a limited edition version of the 2RS trim leading the way. The remaining models will follow suit, but they will all debut for the 2024 model year. The price of the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV will be crucial to its ability to penetrate a segment of the demand that is already saturated with talented competitors. Chevrolet aims for a base price of approximately $30,000, making it the least expensive compact EV currently available. Upper trims would likely approach the $45,000 MSRP threshold.
